Lean
Lean is a disciplined process to eliminate waste and increase the value that we offer our customers. Eliminating the waste within our processes allows us to produce better results faster.
Bassett Mechanical started using the principles of Lean construction and Lean engineering in parts of our metals manufacturing division in early 2005; we expanded the initiative to the remainder of our shop, field, and office in November of 2006. Now, Lean is a way of life for everyone at Bassett Mechanical.
Continuous improvement never ends
Bassett’s Lean endeavors are not a one-time project that will eventually fade away. Lean has changed the landscape at Bassett Mechanical and is integrated into our culture — it’s how we do business. By combining Lean with our commitment to safety and ISO, we are strengthening our drive for continuous improvement on a daily basis. The concepts and principles behind Lean are not just the flavor of the month for us. It’s our way of defining business activity that is focused on providing meaningful value for our customers.
Lean is customer-focused
We focus on three key customer-value deliverables from our Lean efforts: Cost, Quality, and Delivery. We strive to always deliver a quality product or service at a competitive price and on time. Our success with Lean translates into enhanced quality and service, giving our customers more value for the dollar. Because Bassett values our customer relationships highly, the involvement of customers, suppliers, and employees in our Lean activities is always encouraged to ensure that our continuous improvement efforts generate results that add value to them.
To date, we have one full-time person and a steering committee dedicated to leading our Lean implementation. Bassett managers have completed extensive Lean training, and every team member receives training before they participate in a Kaizen event or rapid improvement event.
