About Us
FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS

Bassett has remained a family-owned business since its beginnings in 1936. At that time the company was started by Al Bassett and grew under his leadership. He was joined by his brother C. W. (Charlie) Bassett in 1945. Charlie ran the service operation and managed the Green Bay store. Bill Bassett, Charlie's son, took over the business in 1974 and served as president until 2007.

Today, Bill serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, while his daughter, Kim Bassett-Heitzmann, serves as president and chief operating officer. Family ownership is a vital part of the culture and business philosophy of Bassett Mechanical. At the core of the company is an atmosphere of dedication to serving the customer. Being family-owned has a strong connection to Bassett's philosophy of "We Answer to You®." The Bassett name is more than a company name. It's also the name of a respected family that lives in the community.

The Bassetts are actively involved in the Wisconsin Family Business Forum. The Forum includes many of Wisconsin's prominent family-owned businesses. Forum members come together as partners to share ideas and best practices, and to develop skills and knowledge related to growing and transitioning successful family businesses.
