We’d like to introduce you to the brilliant people in our company who have dedicated many years to serving, guiding, caring, and giving their all to deliver the highest quality solutions for our customers.

We’d like to introduce you to Becky. Becky is a Quality Control Coordinator in her 16th year with Bassett Mechanical!

Hi Becky! Tell me about your journey here at Bassett Mechanical.

I’ve been with Bassett Mechanical since 2004. I started through a temp agency as the receptionist.  I have worked with the Sheet Metal department and Thermatech in various roles including Project Coordinator, Project Manager, and now Quality Control Coordinator.  I can’t believe it’s already been 16 years!

16 years! That’s a great accomplishment! Did you know you wanted to be a QC Coordinator when you first started?

I didn’t start with this specific role in mind.  I have been fortunate to grow with the company over the years. As I started, I just tried to learn everything I could. I kept evolving and changing and taking on more projects from there. One of my managers noticed my attention to detail and thought I’d be good at project management. I liked the idea and my managers encouraged me to continue learning and kept me in mind for future opportunities.

If someone would have told me 20 years ago that I would be working in this role today, I would not have believed it.  But I’m so glad because I feel quality control is a great fit for me.

What did you learn from your roles that prepared you for your role today?

Each opportunity was a step toward today.  As a Project Coordinator, you start with the data needed to enter the job and learn about the projects as they come through.  As a Project Manager, you are more hands-on with additional details of the project.  Working in Quality Control, we make sure those steps get completed and are following code rules.  It has been exciting to see all the different sides of a project and all of the details that go into ensuring the best and most compliant product for our customers.

Bassett is great about supporting our lives outside of work and helping us balance that while providing great solutions to our customers.

What is something you have learned over the years that stands out?

At one point, I wanted to know more about welding so I could become more knowledgeable in my position. The company supported me in taking a welding class! It was an awesome experience and gave me a way to be more effective in my role.

How exciting to continually learn and grow into new and challenging opportunities! What do you attribute your continued success at Bassett Mechanical to?

I’ve always had people who believed in me. I’ve always had someone willing to teach me.

My managers have always helped me and guided me along the way, sharpening my knowledge and expertise, and to help me grow. I work with a lot of really supportive people and have had a lot of coworkers cheering me on along the way.  From the office to the manufacturing floor, I have been lucky to experience a lot of care and guidance through each role I’ve had.

How has Bassett Mechanical supported your desire to grow?

I have held many different job titles, and I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given. At Bassett Mechanical, they don’t put you in a role without the resources you need to be successful. They support you with educational opportunities and training. There are many people at our company whose positions have grown and evolved. What’s great about Bassett Mechanical is that they are always open to helping people find the right fit.

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to adjust the way to work in the office and with our teams. Working from home has given us a new view on flexibility and balancing your whole entire life- both work and home.  Bassett is great about supporting our lives outside of work and helping us balance that while providing great solutions to our customers.

What’s the passion that keeps you loving your role here at Bassett Mechanical?

I really like my job, but it’s the connections that you make with others that makes it really great. I see many of my coworkers more than my own family members! I appreciate the people that I work with because they are quality human beings who take pride in what they do. Working with people like that is amazing and inspiring.

Thank you, Becky, for your 16 years of Creating Customers for Life®!
